A Brief Walking Tour of Portland, OR

I love PDX.
The Pearl is nearly completely built out.
Bike culture is everywhere.
There are wind turbines atop buildings – and giant crabs, too.
There is functional sculpture made of reclaimed track rail.
There are giant billboards of dogs.
There are vintage signs and new signs made to look vintage.
There are architecturally significant buildings that aren’t so significant that they overwhelm.
There are, of course, other cities with great things like this and more.
But I wasn’t in them this past weekend.
I was in Portland.

A fresh Poem from the Farmer's Market

I went to the Ballard Farmer’s Market this morning and met Meredith Clark of the Poem Store.
She whipped up a fresh one for me on a topic of my choice – in this case, ice cream, inspired by the mint chocolate ice cream bar I was eating.
Delicious poetry, the remnants of which remain on my tongue.
